Accessibility & ADA Statement
Thrif-T-Lodge Motel is a place of lodging covered by Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act. This page sets out what is accessible at the property, how to reserve an accessible room, the policies our staff follow, and how to tell us when something isn't working for you.
At the Property
What's Accessible at the Motel
- Marked accessible parking spaces.
- Ground-floor rooms that open straight onto the level courtyard, with no stairs between the parking space and the room door.
- A front desk staffed 24 hours, so there is always someone to help with directions or a room change.
- Restaurants and shops within walking distance on a level, sidewalked stretch of E Redlands Blvd.
The motel is a two-storey courtyard building and the upper floor is reached by stairs. If you need to avoid stairs, ask for a ground-floor room when you book and we will hold one for you.
Before You Arrive
Reserving an Accessible Room
Book by phone and tell us what you need — step-free access, a room close to the office, grab bars, a visual door knock or smoke alarm, or a quiet room. We will tell you exactly what the room has before you commit, so you are not guessing.
In line with the ADA reservations rule (28 CFR §36.302(e)), when you reserve an accessible room:
- We describe the room's accessible features in enough detail for you to judge whether it meets your needs.
- We reserve that specific room for you and remove it from the available inventory.
- We hold it and guarantee it, on the same terms as any other reservation.
- We keep accessible rooms back for guests who need them until all other rooms of that type are taken.
Our Policies
The ADA Rules Our Front Desk Follows
These are the standing instructions for every member of staff, on every shift.
Service animals are welcome
We do not accept pets, but a service animal is not a pet. Dogs individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability are welcome in the rooms and anywhere guests go, and so are trained miniature horses where the property can reasonably accommodate them.
Staff may ask only two questions: is the dog required because of a disability, and what work or task has it been trained to perform. We will not ask about your disability, ask for certification or ID papers, or ask the dog to demonstrate its task. There is no pet fee, no deposit and no cleaning charge for a service animal. You are responsible for the animal's care and control; we may ask you to remove an animal only if it is out of control and you do not act, or if it is not housebroken.
Emotional support animals are not service animals under the ADA. Please call before booking so we can discuss it rather than turn you away at the door.
We modify policies when it helps
Where a rule of ours gets in the way of a guest with a disability, we change the rule — as long as the change does not fundamentally alter what we do. In practice that means things like holding a ground-floor room, allowing a personal care attendant to come and go, giving extra time at check-in, letting a guest wait in the office while a companion parks, or delivering a key to the car.
We also remove barriers in the building where doing so is readily achievable, and we keep accessible parking, entrances and routes clear of obstructions, carts and deliveries at all times.
We communicate in whatever way works
We will take whatever steps are needed to communicate effectively with guests who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, have low vision or have a speech disability. Ask and we will read documents aloud, write things down, print the rates and rules in large type, or speak with a family member or interpreter of your choosing.
Callers using a TTY or a relay service can reach us by dialling 711 and asking for (909) 793-2536. Texting the front desk number and emailing stay@thriftlodgeredlands.com both work too.
This Website
Website Accessibility
We build and maintain this site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, which the Department of Justice treats as the benchmark for accessible web content under the ADA. That means, among other things:
- Every page works from the keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a “skip to main content” link.
- Headings, landmarks and lists carry real structure, so screen readers can navigate the page rather than read it as a wall of text.
- Every meaningful image has descriptive alternative text; decorative icons are hidden from assistive technology.
- Text meets AA contrast against its background, and the layout reflows without horizontal scrolling down to 320 px and up to 200% zoom.
- Nothing flashes, auto-plays sound, or moves without the guest asking; motion respects your operating system's “reduce motion” setting.
- Phone numbers, the address and opening hours are real text and real links, not pictures of text.
On-Page Tools
The Accessibility Toolbar
The blue wheelchair button in the bottom corner of every page opens a tray of adjustments you can apply to this site at any time:
- Enlarge the text up to 150%, or step it back down.
- Switch to a plainer, more readable typeface.
- Open up line, letter and word spacing.
- Highlight and underline every link.
- Turn on high contrast, grayscale or inverted colours.
- Hide photographs to strip the page back to text.
- Pause motion, enlarge the cursor, show a reading guide, or force a strong focus outline.
Your choices are remembered in your own browser and are never sent anywhere. The toolbar runs entirely on this site — there is no third-party script and no tracking. Press Esc to close it, or use Reset all to put everything back.
These tools sit on top of an accessible site; they are not a substitute for one, and they do not replace your own screen reader, magnifier or browser settings, which this site is built to work with.
Tell Us
Found a Barrier? We Want to Hear About It
If any part of this website, or anything at the motel, kept you from doing what you came to do, tell us and we will fix it and help you in the meantime.
Give us as much as you can — the page address or the part of the property, what you were trying to do, and what got in the way, plus the browser or assistive technology you were using if it is a website problem. It all helps.
We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within two business days and to tell you what we are doing about it. Parts of this site that rely on outside services — embedded maps, for example — are not under our control, but tell us anyway and we will find another way to give you the same information.
Common Questions
Accessibility FAQs
Do you have accessible rooms and parking?
There are marked accessible parking spaces, and ground-floor rooms open straight onto the level courtyard. Call ahead with your specific needs and we will hold a suitable room and tell you exactly what it has.
Can I bring my service dog?
Yes. Service animals are welcome even though pets are not, at no extra charge. Please mention it when you book so we can put you in a convenient room. Staff may ask only whether the dog is required because of a disability and what task it has been trained to perform.
Is the upper floor reachable without stairs?
No. This is an older two-storey courtyard motel and the upper floor is reached by stairs. Ask for a ground-floor room, which opens directly onto the level parking courtyard.
I use a TTY or a relay service. How do I reach you?
Dial 711 for Telecommunications Relay Service and ask for (909) 793-2536. You can also text that number or email stay@thriftlodgeredlands.com. The front desk is staffed 24 hours.
Will my accessible room still be there when I arrive late?
Yes. A reserved accessible room is blocked out of inventory and held for you on the same guaranteed terms as any other booking, however late you check in. The front desk is open 24 hours.
Tell us what you need — we'll sort it out
One call to the front desk is all it takes. We're here 24 hours.
